Night's Salvation by Laurie Sorensen
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover?
Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want
to BUY the book? Discuss.
I want to be helpful and I'm sorry if this sounds a bit critical but this cover is a mess and needs a lot of work.
The text is almost totally unreadable. I can barely make out the title, the text under it can't be read at all and the other text is also lost. There is also a minor problem with the authors name. The spacing between the R and E looks totally wrong.
Having 3 different graphics (head, house, tree) don't seem to work with each other. I would suggest losing the house.
I can read the author name and yep, it badly needs kerning.
I don't so much mind the head, the house and the tree and the color scheme is okay. What in the world is the sword for? And seriously, you can barely read the title and nothing below it.
I'm no cover designer so what I mention here is just reader reaction to the cover because, well, I'm book-cover-shallow that way :-)
When I first looked at the cover, I couldn't really look at it. I had to take things in piece by piece because I couldn't register a flow for the cover. Each piece seems beautiful by themselves but all together, well, there's not a connection.
Not sure what the genre is and as is, I'm sure I wouldn't purchase the novel.
I am a fan of the book, although the cover is a little crowded. Its just " too busy" maybe if you scale back the face a little and the print below the sword is difficult to read...
