The Color of Betrayal by Kathy L. Wheeler

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Whoa! My eyes. They burn....

Way too much going on with this cover. Can't read the blurb unless you zoom in, weird color scheme, models are totally disconnected from each other, and the scheme and blurb say chick lit but the title says thriller; I have no clue what the genre would be.

You can't read the author name and I do not like the beveled black text of the title. Unfortunately this does not say professional cover to me.

  2. I love the bright colors! To address the review above, I see the disconnect between the h/h because perhaps one betrayed the other and they have some issues to overcome. I also think the title leans toward emotional issues and so would guess this is a contemporary romance set in some exotic place and seething with emotion.

  3. I think this cover is truly eye-catching. It might be just a little 'busy' but that seems in keeping with the title, and I would assume, the theme of the story, which seems to have something to do with color and betrayal. Therefore, the cover is brightly colored. It seems to be a contemporary romance, maybe a light-hearted one, in spite of the 'betrayal.' This is a cover that would definitely intrigue me and make me want to read the back cover to see what it's about. I don't know that this is a particularly clear and large enough version of the cover to fully read the blurb on front, but I was able to make it out.

  4. I do like the colors of this cover. It plays right into the title, and I would guess it is going to be a drama packed story about romance and jealousy. What I would do for the blurb, is move the title up a notch and move the blurb to under the title. That way that text can be stretched out, possibly made bigger font for easier reading and doesn't distract from the cover art and title itself. I would definitely be turning this over to see what it's all about.

  5. This cover is certainy eye-catching. It's bright, very bright until it reaches the middle where the dark, large bold lettering of the title seemed a bit of a surprise. It would seem the title lends itself to some possibly more playful and engaging style if it is meant to be a romance.

I still haven't been able to make out that blurb but I think it's an endorsement of some kind, I think. As much as I love a cover that catches the eye, the way this catches the eye is sort of busy. I'd have to say that if I saw this in the bookstore, I'd mainly try to look at it to see what the blurb said.

  6. I thinnk the title type is too large. On the quote, use only the first sentence, then the author's name. The Hero's hair, maybe just my machine, but it looks deep purple and sage green - not very appealing. Overall, it's colorful and I agree with an earlier comment, looks like its set in an exotic location. If it's not, the cover is too tropical.
