What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. I would give this one a category of erotic romance or at least very steamy romance.

I like almost everything; I think he's lovely, I think the horse is lovely (but is he romancing the horse?), I like the author typeface and actually really like the title typeface. The problem is that the color of the title typeface is too close in tone to its background, making it difficult to read.If the background and his hat were darker, I would like it a lot.

@Rayne, see how his deltoid ties in as a hollow, not a crease?

  2. It doesn't look erotic to me. There is no naked woman draped all over the cowboy. I would say Western Romance. Pretty horse, pretty cowboy and more horses in the background means a ranch story.
I like the lettering too. And if it weren't for the issue of readability in a thumbnail, it works pretty well. The reason I say this is because the white part goes from his hat (the lightest thing catches the eye first) and the curve of the lettering draws the eye down, and then the horse's mane and blaze down his nose takes us down to the author name. Nice circle to carry the eye all around the cover. The thing I see is the only real color in the frame is the dark denim blue of his crotch. Bullseye! To give it a little more oomph, I would go to the lettering and keep the white part, but add some blue to offset the lonely blue and give the title more readability and a stronger impact.

  3. A romance between a man and his horse... that's kinky ;-)

The only problem that I have with this cover is the color of the text. I agree with Robin that it's too hard to read. It must be given something to make it stand out from the picture.

  4. It sings Western Romance with some serious steam and a touch of lightheartedness that promises a HEA. I like the lightness of the horse, the white hatted hero, and the entertaining font. I agree with Robin that it needs a little more contrast and that with darkening the background a bit, the important features would really pop.

  5. Oooohhh-weee! It is a great cover - okay the text might be better if it was darker but the rest gets an A plus.

  6. It's wonderful! It says cowboy (western) romance or western erotic romance to me. Nothing sells a romance better than a gorgeous man's chest :).

  7. I really like the font, however the previous comments are on target. This cover speaks to me because it reminds me of Roy Rogers... but Roy Rogers Gone Modern. Besides, cowboys, I love palomino horses.

  8. A horse and a hot cowboy always do it for me. A bazillion times better than the first time around at Dorch, huh. I actually like the color of the font, silvery like the title. Good luck and congrats! xoxox

  9. Western romance. I have to confess. I'm not much of a fan of western romances, but have enjoyed a few. It's a great cover, but won't he get cold?

  10. Hum, well, the first thing I see in this cover is his big belt buckle. Which draws my attention to his crotch, which seems to be spotlighted because his chaps are a darker color. So my reaction is western/hot. The font is a little hard to read.
Over all, the cover is attractive.

  11. A beautiful horse and a beautiful, bare chested cowboy! What's not to like? Can't tell if it's a modern or historical western romance, but I'd sure pick it up and read the blurb to find out.

  12. This cover I love. It so says western romance. I love the colors, the horse and cowboy are a great connection to what this story would be about and I love the font. Great job to this designer.
