Claiming Their Cat by Maggie O'Malley

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Okay, I've seen far worse covers, but I think this one could be a lot stronger.

I like the trees background, and the wolf face on the right is okay, but I really do not like that she has been amputated below the chest and is apparently floating on an illustrator smoke brush. The smaller wolf in the background is just flat deformed; I'd drop it.

There's no real strong focal point of the cover, since the wolf head and her face are about the same size.

On the title, the word "their" is not really aligned to anything. It doesn't line up with the C in "Claiming." It is not aligned with the top of Cat or the bottom of Cat. And why is it underlined, and very poorly? the underline does not extend all the way across the bottom of the letters?

Author name has a hard drop shadow that is the exact same color as the author name. It just makes it look fuzzy, and it's unneeded. And it also doesn't match up with the title. It would be very little work to make it thge same width as "Claiming."

  2. Yes, I agree with robin and the small wolf just doesn't work or look correct.

I'm also confused by the title: "Claiming Their Cat"... wolfs are not cats.
