The Card by Jim Devitt
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover?
Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want
to BUY the book? Discuss.
It makes me think of "Angels in the Outfield." Based on the cover, I'd think to myself that it wouldn't be interesting to me, but I'd read the book description to find out more.
The cover is fine. My problem is that it looks a lot like other movie posters, books and promotional material from baseball teams. Is this a bad thing? Hard call. The similar image is comforting but doesn't push originality.
The cover is very attractive and artwork great. However, I would overlook it assuming it would appeal to men and fans of baseball. If it had a batboy, sitting on the bench, it would tempt me to pick up the book and thumb through the description. I read this book; I loved it. But as a YA book, I'd like to see a youth on the cover.

ReplyDeletethis cover, while not something I would pick up (not my interest area) is clean and clear. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteObviously sports type novel.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite sure why I don't like it that much. I think the dark blue is somehow not realistic or something. Can't put my finger on it.
Although not a sport fan, I'm intrigued by the (math?) symbols on the ball. It drew me in and made me curious.

ReplyDeleteLove this cover. I'm from Seattle and love Safeco Field. Especially nice job on the ball's motion and formula.
