I'll Be Your Last by Jane Leopold Quinn
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover?
Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want
to BUY the book? Discuss.
I'm with Eric on the top red banner, especially since it cuts off the main model's head even more.
I don't think we need the second guy to tell us this is MM romance, and he doesn't add a thing to the cover.
Typography is readable but kind of boring; I'd be tempted to go sans serif. And my pet peeve (okay, I have a lot of pet peeves but this is one of them) are tick marks versus curly quotes.
The single most compelling figure on this cover is the main model. I would leave him on the right side but let him shine, and make it more of a torso shot; I don't like the way the red box chops the top of his head off and I think it would bother me less if it was neck/chest down instead of chin down.
hot cover! I also think it would be good with just one model--the cover is a bit busy. Still--I like it and I would pick up the book to read the blurb--just from seeing the cover.
Thanks for your comments on my cover. Some things, like the red strip at the top, are requirements of the publisher. After that, it's up to the author and artist to do the creating.
Thanks, Jude. Looking forward to comments. ;-)

From the cover I would say that this book is gay erotica with a police twist.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of the big red border at the top for the publisher and the little text, below it is unreadable in thumbnail form.
The rest of the cover is alright, but I'm not it's target audience.
MM Erotica/romance.
