A Vampire in Love by Tessa Stokes

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Please understand that my criticism is not personal, I want to help the authors sell more books.

But wow, I hate this cover. I think that just about every element is wrong. Where to begin?

Why is there so much space between Tessa and Devon's names. I assume that they are both the authors. Also why are their names first and bigger than the title of the book? Have a nice big title and put the two authors names together below that. Make the Volume one smaller than that. Also the color of the letters on the satin background just doesn't work.

The background is a mess and doesn't work, stick with one theme. Either make the graveyard bigger or lose it. Personally I would get rid of the satin bed sheet altogether and work with the graveyard image.

The Photoshop work on the guy/vampire just also doesn't work. The edges are not clean and the filter work on him is just odd. He would also need to be color balanced better to fit in with everything else.

Bottom line..... Start over from scratch.

  2. I also would probably get rid of the satin and just work with the graveyard image. I am assuming that this is a romance based on the cover and I have seen tons of romance covers where the authors names are much larger than the title so I don't fully agree with that evaluation. Though I don't think the purple works well on the blue background, it's all a little hard to read. I like the 3 images and think you could work them together and have a wonderful cover. Keep at it.

  3. I think Tessa Stokes is probably the author and Devon Ruthin is the character. The subtitle is the Ruthin Trilogy. Note also that small 'and' between Devon Ruthin and the Vampire in Love.

    IMHO.
