Pennies on the Dollar by Sandra McGregor

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. The genre looks like YA or women's lit; I think all the elements of the cover are good, but Lady Liberty & the jewelry somehow clash with each other- can her necklace be photoshopped out? I would suggest, just my subjective opinion here-- make a different font between the title & the author name, & lower the author name to the bottom, all along one line.
I'm intrigued with the story from the cover here.

  2. I'm not sure about the genre. Neither the picture or the title clues me in. Like Anonymous1 said, maybe YA or women's lit/fiction, though I'd lean toward YA because the female on the cover is young. I'd guess young girl in the big city, drawn to the glitz and glamour.

  3. I don't like the font. Maybe just me but it seems rather unattractive. The pictures are kind of all over the place and don't seem to go together, especially the Statue of Liberty in the middle of the young woman. I suppose this is some sort of 'women's lit', but can't tell a thing beyond that.

It's not terrible, but I don't think it will do a very good job either.

  4. I don't have a clue about the genre from this cover.

I do not like the statue of Liberty and and the jewelry on top of each other each set to 50% opacity. Why is the women even at 50% opacity? That is the strongest image it should be set at 100%.

I'm not sure that you need Statue of Liberty when you have the silhouette of New York already.

A much stronger font could be used.

    Overall it need work.

  5. I like the girl. I would agree that the skyline would be enough to make me think NY. The font ideas are good one. The color of the background is eye catching.

  6. It's hard to tell what genre this is, but I'd say YA based on the young girl's face. All the colors are washed out and there's no focal point to direct the eye. The statue of liberty is stabbing the girl in the chin with her torch, which looks kind of odd. The font is bland and the title should be bigger to call attention to itself.
