Exposed by J. A. Konrath and Ann Voss Peterson

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Obviously a thriller. Eye catching, but I find something about it extraordinarily unpleasant. Not sure what. Maybe the naked-looking woman that seems a bit porn-ish is what I find off-putting. I think the cover is ugly anyway ignoring that factor.

I just don't like that cover, but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't sell. I don't buy many thrillers so I may not be the right target.

  2. You know, on second thought, I'm not sure this would be "obviously a thriller" if I didn't know that Konrath did thrillers. It could just as easily be violent porn really. The title doesn't scream thriller either and on top of the naked woman, it really has an unpleasant effect.

Maybe that's desireable in thriller covers?

  3. I'm with J. R. on the naked woman. Maybe if she wasn't outlined in white. I also think that the jagged top and bottom line of the title may be what is jarring; I think that makes it a little too unsettling to the eye. There's a little too much vibration going on.

I do like the colors of the cover, and the text treatment.

  4. I have mixed feelings about the cover. I like the color's and graphic look, but at the same time the outline of the women over the letter O makes it hard to read.

I would be tempted to make the title a bit smaller and moved up so the women is not covering up so much of the O.
