The Baby Race by Elysa Hendricks

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  2. Very cool. Obviously a romance novel, one featuring a hot cowboy!

  3. Definitely a romance with a hunky hero. Great cover!

  4. First reaction? Wow-za! But then blue is my favorite color. ;)

  5. Oops. Got so excited, I forgot the genre. Western Historical? Just kidding. Gotta be a contemporary romance with a cowboy hero.

  6. Looks like romance genre to me. The reason I love this cover so much (apart from the obvious *grin*) is the beautiful crisp blue - it really draws the eye in. Love this one!

  7. Romance or erotica. I don't like man-boobs so I don't like it much but it sounds like I'm in the minority here. :)

  8. Not a fan of the cover, though the photo is hot. :) The title gets lost on the image. Hard to read. And the image appears disassociated with the title, which could mislead readers. So even if an image is attractive, it still must carry the meaning of the book. As for the genre? I have absolutely no clue.

  9. i love the book cover's design. the man is quite sexy looking and the unbutton shirt helps. Somehow not seeing all of his fave is very intriguing. an appears to be a male dancer. not exactly sure of the genre. it could be a romantic comedy with a touch of gay influences.

  10. It looks like a sexy, cowboy/Western-themed book. Probably not erotic. I probably wouldn't buy it since I'm not into Westerns, but I think it's very attractive.

  11. It is a hot picture; however, I don't really get the connection with the title and photo. I agree with some other comments that it looks like a Texas/Southwestern-based contemporary romance. I think the swirl under the title/across his chest is too much. It detracts from the image and looks like a tattoo on his chest. The font used for the title and the style of it are good.

  12. Great cover! I love hot cowboy romances. Definitely makes me want to read the book.

  13. I would say that it is a cowboy contemporary romance novel.

My only problem with the novel is that the word "baby" is so hard to read. When the light blue get on top of the blue of the shirt they sort of bleed into one.

The scroll work around the text also makes the guy look like he has a strange tattoo.

  14. I like the cover. Very clean and to the point. I saw its a cowboy finance.

  15. Okay, am I the only one who looked at this and, with the man boobs and lack of defined abs, wondered if it was some kind of bizarre man-gets-pregnant book?

He kind of has a smooth, round belly there. I also don't like the black swirl behind the title; it's unneeded.

  16. IMHO, it's a not a bad cover but it's not necessarily for this type of title. I do not see a connection between the title and the pic. This might be knit-picking but i'm little disturbed by the amount of pants waist that's shown above the belt, so much material above the belt, it always amuses me secretly like maybe the person is just coming from the bathroom. The swirl above the writing looks like a tatoo so i'd remove that. I think it wld be better if his shirt sleeve was rolled up/cut off more so that his tatoo cld be more visible since it's a part of the whole image anyways. It would've been nice if there was more of a definition for the abs so for that i'd let the shirt be less open or the opening narrower but all in all not bad.

  17. The cowboy is hot. The title leads me to believe that a cowboy has to get his hands on an heir/a baby or that he is the 'stud' for a woman needing a baby.

Does the cover alone make me want to buy the book? No. The title helps a bit, but it wouldn't immediately stop me.

  18. Part of my comment was cut off...

    Comment continued:

Amazon is home to many, many bare chested men on the covers of romance/erotic novels, so this cover- though attractive- could get lost in them.

  19. Love it, but I wanted to see all of his face. Judging from this cover it appears to be a fun book and yes I'd buy it based on the cover.

  20. The cover is certainly eye catching and the practically bare chested cowboy looks delicious but what does it have to do with a baby? If this awesome looking man held a baby in one of his large, suntanned hands- or even had a baby bottle sticking out of his pocket- it would make more sense to me. Bare chests are everywhere but a bare chest plus a baby...now that is an attention getter.

  21. The complete title is not readable at thumbnail size. "Baby" mushes in with the shirt, partly for color, partly for the curly font.

The image is of the type I see on m/m romances, headless bare torso, but that doesn't connect particularly with the title. If this showed up on my 'to review' list, I'd be confused. Might read it anyway, depending on the blurb.
