The Wizard and the King by E.S. DeAngelo

What's the genre? What's the logline? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. I like the image and that's a good choice of font. However, the text color doesn't pop -- if it was me, I'd try to get it to match the lighter green color in the center of the emerald and maybe emboss the text.

  2. Genre: fantasy

Logline: The one who possesses the power of the emerald holds the kingdom in his hands.

I like the images and the way they make the genre obvious and reveal some elements of the story. The balance of light and dark is good.

The text is easy to read, but yes, it could do with some artistic effects.

It makes me want to read the book.

  3. I like this cover and I'd probably at least take a look at the blurb. It looks like fantasy, probably of a fairly dark nature. It would definitely catch my attention when I was browsing.

I don't mind the lack of artistic effects on the font. I think simple is often the most effective.

  4. Fantasy, obviously.

I'd definitely sample it to see if it piqued my interest, since fantasy is the number one genre I read.
