Protecting Rose by Cheryl Yeko
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.
I really like it. Creates the right kind of mood. I like the guy and that he's not in-your-face sexy (fully dressed yet still sexy it possible, yes). Background is also good. ;-)
I'm with Callie...I'm one of Cheryl's cp's and though I didn't read it all (life gets busy) the cover is perfect...exactly how I pictured a scene in the story!
Congrats Cheryl...not only to a great cover but a wonderful story!
Overall I really like it, but nitpicky is me! Love Jimmy, love his pose, yep it's perfectly possible to have a sexy guy who has clothes on.
The fire bugs me a little Maybe it's that it's a bit too bright and too "close to camera." When I realized it was fire (took me a second), I thought maybe his hands should be burning.I might try to knock that back a bit into the background.
I like the typeface, but I'd probably make the author name white not blue. Other than that, I do like it.
I would also agree that this is a strong cover, however, I'm also in agreement with Robin and say that the fire is not quite right.
I could nick-pick and get into how the fire, a source of light, is on the shadow side of the man's face and it not casting any light on the dark trees. But the cover doesn't have to be a believable movie special effect.
The guy is hot, yeah! :) I'm not that crazy about the cover though. The fire and the guy look as though simply pasted on top of a photo of a forest. There's no depth of field. The background is foggy twilight, yet the man appears to be in full daylight. The juxtaposition just looks odd to me.
My favorite elements are the guy and the title. The model is great looking, and good tension on holding up the gun and looking out into the night. The red jaggy font really catches my eye. Makes me want to buy the book!
Great cover, Cheryl!

ReplyDeleteHow can you go wrong with Jimmy and exploding stuff? It screams suspense. Fun cover.
ReplyDeleteHaving read the book, I can assure you all, the cover fits the story perfectly. Great cover, Cheryl. Congrats. I can't wait for it to come out.

Definitely makes me want to buy the book!
ReplyDeleteReally nice cover. I don't agree that the guy isn't sexy, it's just not in the your face sort. I'd pick this one up.
ReplyDeleteI have read the book multiple times. The cover is perfet and the book is the best I have read in a long time!!
ReplyDeleteVery effective cover, Cheryl! Creates just the right amount of suspense and drama - plus the guy is pretty hot, too!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover. It makes me want to buy the book. Sexy without being over the top.

Great cover. Especially with 'yummy' Jimmy on there :)

ReplyDeleteBut that aside- I like the suspenseful feel of the cover. I haven't read this one but I know it will be great!

I like the cover and agree with what everyone else has said. The cover would definitely tempt me to pick up a copy.

Well, I'm really blind. I thought it was a woman in a dress and red hair hidden behind the hunk so you couldn't see her face. lol

ReplyDeletethe guy is sexy! Reminds me of my favorite character from true blood! Looks like a great action/love book to pick up and read!
ReplyDeleteSuspense, intrigue and Jimmy! What a combo.
ReplyDeleteGreat cover!
Interesting cover, dark, mysterious, sexy. To be frank, I think the gun is too dark. It seems connected to the fire somehow?
