Entanglements by P.R. Mason

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. I'm sort of equivocal about this cover. Entanglements with a girl's face looks like it should be romance (maybe teen romance because of the girl). But it says "multiverse." Sci-Fi?

I don't mind the title font but it's too close to the pink line on the top, and I don't get the purpose of the black line. Also, she's very washed out and to me personally just not that attractive. Or, let me put it this way. She's actually very sweet looking but I'm not sure her face alone is compelling enough to carry a cover.

Finally, the author name gets totally lost on the bottom left.

  2. This may sound a bit harsh, but the cover is boring and does not convey what kind of book it is.

I agree with Robin's comments with what is wrong with the artwork text and placement of everything.

I think that this book falls into the start over category.

  3. I don't even know what a "multiverse novel" is. Is it supposed to look suspense-like? That is what I'd usually think about a very close up showing one eye, but this doesn't quite make that. Yeah, I'd say more work and drop the "multiverse" thing.

  4. What is "multiverse"? I agree with Eric, the cover is not very well done, likely not professionally done. It is so important to have a professional, or at least professional-looking, cover done. It's the first thing readers see and should grab their attention. There are some newer cover artist that will do one for $50 or so. Go to deviant.art.com and check out the artists there, to start. Best of luck!

  6. Hmm... Am not loving this cover. It has a slapped together look to it. Maybe Multiverse Novel is a series title? Definitely YA. I do like the title font, but the image is, as Robin said, washed out. Either make it full color or a very starkly contrasted black & white for a more dramatic effect. Even doing that won't disguise the question of how this face is associated with the title. I think more thought needs to go into the creation of this cover.

  7. The others have listed far more details so no need to rehash them. So I'll just say that my immediate reaction is, "Okay, it's a girl." or :"It's a feminine looking fella." That's where it stops.

  8. Either the proportions are wrong or the black line down the right side is creating the illusion of wrong proportions.
