Reining In by Dawn Judd

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. I'm afraid I don't like this one. The graphic is too disjointed or something. The eyes are hard to see, no pun intended, the mouth is too prominent compared to the rest of the image, and the bloody cracks are just distracting. I also don't really care for a white background for a book cover.

Sorry, but this cover does not make me want to pick it up to learn more about it.

  2. I was swamped with life for a few weeks and see I missed some fantastic covers.

At first glance this cover caught my eye. The balance of light and dark is attractive, and the author's name and the title are easy to read. Then when I started studying it, I got confused. The eyes make me think of something exotic and Oriental, but the fangs say vampire, and the drips of blood turn into, I don't know, tree roots? So I'm not sure what the genre might be, but I probably would read the blurb to find out.

  3. I think the title doesn't go with the cover.

And I hope it is in the horror or thriller category because thus cover is disturbing. For that category I mean it in a good way.

The cover says vampire / horror to me.

The text is very good, bold and easy to read. The problem that I have is with the artwork. I think that the blood (red lines) from the eyes do not work. I think that it would be much stronger with it that extra part.
