Chop Suey by Ty Hutchinson
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.
I think that this is a very nice cover. Very moody and fits the thriller concept really nice. I'm guessing that it's a thriller in a china town.
My only suggestion would be to increase the size of the fonts for the bottom tag. Make it two lines if needed. But having the words thriller on there is very important.
Sorry, but this doesn't grab me. It looks dark and sinister and I like the colors, but there's nothing to indicate what it's about. Other than a stormy sky and the tagline that identifies it as a thriller there's nothing to foretell action or suspense. Maybe if there was the silhouette of someone on the roof holding a gun or something...
I also agree with the others that the text needs to be larger.

I like this one. Atmospheric. I would buy based on cover alone, it's unique.
ReplyDeleteI agree with commenter above, larger fonts at top and bottom.

I like the moodiness of this way; reminds me of a lot of noir movies of the 1940s (lots of interesting shadows and what not).
ReplyDeleteThrillers are not my genre, but I think I'd at least take a look at the sample.
