Treespeaker by Katie W. Stewart

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. The colors of the leaf show up really well. But the central figure looks a bit lost. A copper tone might make it stand out a bit. Or even a bronze, something to make it pop a little bit better.

  2. (Eric-) I would guess that this is a fantasy. The knot work makes me think Celtic. Beyond that the cover does not say much to me, I'm not sure what the earth/egg and leaf have to do with anything. It needs more to get my attention.

I would also agree to make the knot work pop a bit better, change it's color or the background color. Green on Green is not helping.

  3. Thanks for your comments. I was trying to make the tree look as if it was carved out of the wood, as it's described in the book, but I can see that it might be a little lost this colour.

  4. I take this as something Celtic and Druidic. I feel as if I've seen this title before, not even counting the Lorax. Maybe I saw the book listed in another place. I don't especially like the background pattern. I might experiment with a photograph of actual trees and see if it looks better.
