Between the Land and the Sea by Derrolyn Anderson

What's the genre? What's the logline? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. I actually kind of like this one although I think it could use some work. The face seems to me as with the last one a bit too obviously superimposed, but I really like the seascape background.

I have no idea what the genre might be though. Romance? Suspense? Paranormal. Still I like that seascape well enough I might take a look at the blurb to find out.

The artwork is very nice, but it doesn't tell me a thing about the book. A girl at the beach is all I get. I would guess that it's a YA but beyond that.... not a clue.

  3. I like the image in the background, the image of the girl in front not so much. I also think the author's name gets a little lost. I'd make it larger and give it more contrast. I'm guessing this is the first book in a series but it might work better to simply state: "Book 1 in the Marina's Tales series" rather than use the logo which is hard to make out unless you enlarge the cover.

For genre I'd say YA, romance or fantasy.

  4. Overall, I like the cover, but then I've always been attracted to the water. :-)

The genre? As others have said, not really sure. Maybe romance. And I take it that "1" means the first in the series. With my own ebook, I spelled out the series name and stuck "#1" at the end of it. I also decided not to do anything overly funky with the font for that; I think the author should do away with the funky wave thing around the 1 and just spell it out.
