Sloan's Witch by Kari Thomas

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

Genre is probably paranormal romance. And I'm having a bit of trouble with this cover because it's really blurry/pixelated at both the small and large sizes. But I'm going to assume that's a jpg issue, not a cover-overall issue.

I like the art, though are they standing between a rock and a hard place? Literally? I might do a bit more blending there.

Where I'm getting dichotomy (and this is nit-picky) is between the typeface of "Sloan's" and the typeface of "Witch." "Sloan's" looks very hard/rigid/sci-fi to me. Witch is more romantic. Maybe that's deliberate? And I have to say that for me personally, I do not like the color of the word Witch. Yes, it kind of matches her hair, but in the flat color it's just sort of ugly. I'd change it. But like I say, subjective. Overall it's a nice cover.

  2. This cover works well for me. I like how easily readable the title and byline are. The cover illustration is clear and romantic.

For the genre, it's clearly romance, probably paranormal romance with erotic elements.

The only suggestion for improvement I have would be to choose a different font for 'SLOAN'S' because the sans-serif looks a bit harsh. A serif font, like the one used for the byline, would be more harmonious for this particular cover.

  3. Robin... you beat me by a mile this time.

I am in agreement with you on the issues of this cover. Personally I think that you could get rid of the rocks totally and focus on the couple.
