The Rajah's Chosen Bride by Amy Talbot

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. I'm not a real fan of this cover. It looks very dated to me, like something from the 80s. I had to look for quite awhile before I realized the stuff in the background was a woman in some kind of odd pose (and I still don't get the squares).

I think the typeface encourages the 80s look. I'm not sure why the C is yellow, or why there's such a heavy outline around those letters.

The designer used a tick mark instead of a proper curly quote for the apostrophe, and I don't think the typeface has an oblique/italic; the "the" looks artificially slanted. I can't read the small text.

Finally, he looks modern and she (or what I can see of her) looks painterly/historical.

I'm sorry to be so negative. On the positive side, the title and author name are clearly readable, which is a plus.

Visit me on the book cover blog,

  2. Hey, I'm first again.

I'm guessing that this is a romance and the only reason that I'm guessing that is because of the word "bride" in the title.

I'm not in love with this cover. It took me minutes to realize that there was a women in the background. For some odd reason I thought it was an abstract art. So clearly I don't like the background image.

The man color is a bit washed out.

The main text is a little hard to read but not so bad. The yellow text at the bottom is totally unreadable. It's got to be bigger or just taken off the cover.

  3. No Eric, I beat you! What's hysterical is that your post is only two minutes after mine. We were obviously typing simultaneously. My mad wpm skillz must have made the difference.

I keep forgetting genre; definitely romance.

  4. lol... Robin

BTW - I'm enjoying your new blog.
