What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. evocative of the west Michigan coast so I love the imagery. Appears it would be a sweet romance.

    1. Hi Liz, It's definitely a sweet romance. It's not Michigan but it does remind me of the great lakes a bit! I can see why you'd think that. :)

      Thanks for stoping by!

  2. Since I love lighthouses (collect miniatures of them, in fact), I would pick this book up to at least see what it's about. The cover is clear and bright. I like it.

    1. Thanks for stoping by, Callie. I collect lighthouses too, but they're all paintings! :)

  3. I like this cover, I can tell by the title it's a romance but it also doesnt hint at the plot so my curiosity would kick in if I saw this, I'd have to pick it up to see what it's about

    1. It's doesn't hint at the plot. I hadn't thought about that. Good point! :)

  4. Well.... hmmmmm. There's certainly nothing offensive about the cover, and it's not a bad one. I like the artwork but unlike Liz I certainly don't get Michigan. Lighthouse connotes the sea to me. Not much ocean in Michigan.

I think what bugs me a little here is that the top is almost too empty, and the bottom too cluttered. I might put the title up in all that empty space, and the author name, much smaller, below. It's kind of hard to read the title with all the stuff behind it. Typography isn't bad.

    1. Thank you for your suggestion, Robin. It does look a bit that way, especially on such a small photo.

Something to keep in mind for the future. I'm learning that art is certainly subjective! :) Thanks for stopping by today.

  5. Evokes a port at sea--a place where one can be safe from a rocky place. Very nice.

    1. Thank you Ann. It does feel safe! Lighthouses always make me feel that way. Not sure how I'd feel if I were in the lantern room during a raging storm, though! LOL I might want to be back in Tennessee!

  6. Darcy, I like the way the title, Keeper of My Heart, meshes with the meaning of the safe-keeping lighthouse. I've spent time around the ocean-like Great Lakes where lighthouses abound. I think I'd add just a bit of script to nail it. It's a lovely cover, Darcy.

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Kathleen. A couple of commenters have said they thought the bottom was a little too heavy. If you want to chime back in with where I should add 'that bit of script', I'd love to hear from you.

I'm always open to learning. :)

  7. Genre: I would say Romance.

Good artwork and good Typography. It might be a little bottom heavy but that doesn't bother me.

Not that it matters, but I don't see the Michigan coast. When I see a light house I think of the North-East, such a Maine.
