Holly and the Millionaire by Margaret Tanner
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover?
Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want
to BUY the book? Discuss.
Hi Jude, Thank you for posting the cover of my novel Holly And The Millionaire. It is set against the background of the war in Iraq, and is one of my favourite covers. I think Angela Anderson, the cover artist, did a beautiful job with it.
I would never get any feel of Iraq or a war from this cover. It looks like a generic romance. I wish I could see it closer up; the masking on the baby looks a little odd and abrupt. I also do not like the author name treatment, it's very difficult to read.
Other than that, not bad, nothing spectacular to set it out from the crowd though either.
The cover looks nice. At first sight, appears to be a family drama with money involved. Not sure if a reader who views this cover will have any idea that the Iraq wasr has anything to do with the story. They just look like a happy family. The lack of anything regarding the war in Iraq could be purposeful as the cover could be a show of life before, maybe?

well, I didn't get Iraq from it at all but it does look like a fun romance.

ReplyDeleteThe Iraq War.... REALLY? Honestly I would not have guessed that in a million years. It looks more like a light comedy, such as a 1980's sitcom.
ReplyDeleteIf this is not a light hearten comedy then I would worry that you are tricking you readers with this cover.
Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your helpful comments. I appreciate you taking the time to drop by.
