How Men Do It by Brendan Carroll

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at. This is a really busy cover.

I surmised it to be Romance. However, I am unsure which one is the title. Is it "How men do it?" Or, is it "The Red Cross of Gold XIX:.?"

Four different fonts, four different colors, a picture that is tough to visually discern what it is... Unfortunately, this cover is not working for me at all.

    I'd suggest a do-over from scratch. (Sorry).

  2. I agree with Gisele. Do-over from scratch. The image is very busy and all I make out is a rose, but it doesn't tell me anything about the story or make me interested in learning more.

I'm assuming the series title is Red Cross of Gold, and that it's the 9th in the series. And How Men Do It is the title. Am I correct? But I can't even begin to make out what the wording is to the left of the rose.

Sorry, I hate to be harsh, but this needs a lot of work.

  3. Unfortunately, I agree with the others on this. It needs a lot of work, if not a complete do over.

My suggestion would be to establish a theme for all the books in the series. A little "branding" can really help. Drop the blurb "Assassin Chronicles" altogether. Put this in the description but not on the cover. Establish a standard place for the title, sub-title (The Red Cross of Gold Series), and author's name. The title should be the largest print. The sub-title should be in the same font but smaller. The author's name can be in a different font, or even a different color, but it should be consistent for all the books.

As it is, it's too busy with a very colorful image and the title, sub-title, description (?), and author's name all in different fonts and colors.

  4. Whoah! WAY too busy. I can hardly read the author's name or the title; the title also doesn't make much sense. The smaller subtitle is just a blur. The other subtitle, "How Men Do It" REALLY doesn't make sense, unless this is a nonfiction sex book. (What other "it" is there, really?) The composition is a disaster and worst of all, I have no clue at all what this book is about or what genre it is.

  5. I'm not a fan of this cover. As everyone else said, it's way too busy and the parts of it do not work together.

The image doesn't match the text. The image is out of focus, which is very artsy but not good for a cover.

The text has too much different colors going on. Also what is the title?

Sorry to say.... it's start over time.

  6. I'd been away from WiFi for a few days and now I'm backtracking and catching up on all I've missed, but I think everyone here has already stated what I would say as well.

  7. I took a look at some of the other books in the series, and other than the series title, I never would have known it was a series. i agree with branding. Work up a consistent branding for all the books in the series, even if that means hiring the same cover artist to do the entire series. right now it's a complete mishmash of styles, fonts, and if I didn't know any better, I'd even say genres.
