  1. genre: Fantasy

Overall no a bad cover. The colors and layout work well. But here are a few suggestions:

The white outline on "The Sidhe" is too thick, it needs to be dropped down a few pixles.

Lose the lens flare. I would also suggest to make the princess a little less faded out and bring her more to the front of the image, right now the background is grabbing more attention. I had a hard time on first glace to see that those were leafs around her.

  2. I love this cover. It's beautifully composed, the colors are amazing, and I think the lens flair filter works on this. Definitely draws the eye to the model's face. But I have to agree about the hard and thick white outline around the title. It's too much. I do like the glow on the author's name, so you might experiment with that on the title, but make it subtle. The model's image is so striking that you don't want to detract from that. Genre: Fantasy. I would pick this up and check it out. Would I ready it? Only if the sample pages were good.

  3. Great use of color. I'm immediately drawn to the expression on the model's face and the poise of her hand. Right away, I think it's a fantasy.

  4. I love the color scheme, and I thought the white border around the title made the words look like they were glowing. Since the book is clearly paranormal, I like the idea of a glowing title.

I also like the drama of the color scheme. I'd like the model to stand out a little more, but I think the cover is beautiful!

  5. I'm with Eric I do not like the overly heavy contour glow on the title letters. I also don't like the lens flare. I think that actually might work if it was knocked back a little so it doesn't stand up and yell, "HEY!! Photoshop lens flare filter right HERE!" at you. We should not be spending more time looking at the effects than we are on the cover as a cohesive whole.

I also don't care for the words "The Sidhe" being balanced on top of the dot of the "i" in princess. I would perhaps have dropped the dot, or moved the top two words over to the right and dropped them down just on top of the other lowercase letters in Princess.

The artwork and her face are beautiful, and I like the color scheme. The typefaces themselves are fine and suit the genre. With just a bit of tweaking, this could be a really compelling cover. It's close.
