More than a Stud by Jerry Race
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover?
Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want
to BUY the book? Discuss.
This thumbnail is so small I can't make anything out. But note that is a bad thing when it comes to covers in the e-book age.
But I'll do my best with what I see.
It looks to be gay erotic, but it's hard to tell.
Once again someone has put white text on a white background (shirt). Also making the author's name bigger than the title of the book. (really is this person as popular as Steven King?)
The overlay of the ? neck-less ? doesn't work very well.
I can't really see this cover but it's hard for me to tell if this is a back or front view. Otherwise, agree with Eric. The chin ing is odd, his horked up shirt is odd.... I don't think I'd like it even if it were clear.
I wish the title and byline were more readable. Alas, they're not.
Also, I can't make sense of that chain or symbol or squiggle or whatever it is. Maybe when viewed in large size, the squiggle is something interesting, but viewed at thumbnail size, I can't make it out.
Just an exemplary case of what not to do to get your book published or read. This cover breaks all the best conceived notions of what is good in presenting itself to the reading public. Washed out print on washed out color, pose of guy with huge, bigger than he is slave belt medallion nearly crashing against a really large blue something-or-other metallic thingie between his legs!? Oh, please. My best gay friends would be laughing their .... well, you know... this is just not the done thing in cover art. There's a difference between gay trash and gay romance. This cover needs to rethink where it wants to lay, so to speak. TheBookishDame/Deborah

ReplyDeleteI like the pose. I think it's eye-catching.

My guess for the genre - gay romance?
