The Billionaire's Bauble by Ann Montclair

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. This is a great cover. The colors are vibrant, and the image is well balanced. Cropping from the guy’s nose and up helps place the woman in the center of the image—so she’s likely the center of the book, too. Which is what I would expect. This looks like a traditional romance, possibly on the sensual side of the spectrum. The image itself makes me wonder: is the guy's necklace the bauble? Or is the woman the bauble? I like a cover that implies a question. Makes me want to buy the book so I can discover the answer!

  2. I think from the cover, the woman is the "bauble" , and it depicts a contemporary romance. I think the red of her dress makes the cover stand out, so it would catch the reader's eye.

  3. To me it looks like a contemporary romance, and I too like the contrast of the red dress against the background of the cover. I'd pick this up to look at it more.

  4. I, too, like the contrast of colors and the way the couple is standing makes me wonder whether SHE is the bauble? It's definitely eye-catching for sure. I'd pick it up and read the blurb.

  5. I love the color contrast between the female and the male. I presume she is the heroine. What's not to like about a bright red/pink dress? Certainly eye catching.

  6. Looks like a sexy contemporary romance. :) My favorite kind, Love the dress & the shoes. And who doesn't like a well-dressed man???

  7. The colors tell a story all their own. I love the way the heroine stands out. The hero seems mysterious in contrast. Looks like a book I would love to read.

  8. The "Fan Club" people are back. You know you are not helping the authors increase sales.

The photo the two people is fine.

However, the text is a mess "The Billionaire's" is too hard to read especially in thumbnail form. This is very important when selling e-books. The font is interesting, but something must be done to make it stand out more and be more readable. Personally I would experiment with using a different bolder font with a different color or outer stroke.

  9. It's an attractive contemporary romance cover, which is what it looks like. It's good that it clearly shows the genre. I am never fond of the "woman hanging all over the man" motif but it seems to work, so I won't criticise it for that. I like the contrast of the red dress to the background. I suspect this cover will do pretty well.

  10. Eric pointed out something I missed on first glance. He has a much better eye than I do. You can't easily read the title. Not good at all.

  11. LOL @ "Fan Club," Eric. I got the same impression.

This is a very pretty cover, the overall design is effective, but i have to agree with Eric that the type is a mess. The title fails to stand out. The kerning between the B and the a in Bauble needs to be fixed. There's a weird line stretched across and above "The Billionaire's" that's distracting and adds nothing good to the design. The second b in Bauble is in an unfortunate location because it drives the eye to her butt, but maybe that's on purpose?

Anyway, fan club aside, i do like this cover, but it could stand a few minor improvements.

  12. Finally weighing in on this one to support Eric. And though I like the color scheme overall, that man has the world's wrinkliest suit!!

  13. Wasn't that picture used for a Julie James novel?

  14. Close, Lynn, but not exact. I looked it up, but it's a bit too similar to feel comfortable.

If i were the author, i'd ask for a new cover that doesn't imitate.
