A Deadly Blessing by Kathy Bennett
What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover?
Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want
to BUY the book? Discuss.
I almost have to wonder if, given the title, it isn't about an office who must kill, or finds himself in the position to do away with someone loathsome, only for him to question that right later.
Not quite so gushy about this cover as others. It's okay. I do not like the typface for the author name; it looks military and it clashes with the art and with the typeface on the tombstone.
The typeface on the tombstone is a little too compressed; no tombstone would actually have letters that close. I would have chosen something more old-fashioned, perhaps an old style garamond. Maybe given it an arch and an inset to really make the tombstone look real; this one is a bit fakey.
Also don't much care for the white glow against the plain back background. All that said, the cover is easy to read and it clearly conveys the genre of cop-related murder mystery.
The cover does a good job conveying the subject matter, however this is not a very good Photoshop job, I'm sorry to say. I would only give my student a C if this was turned in.
I do like the idea of the cover, I'm a little surprised that the author or publisher could not could not find some clip art (photo) that would do a better job, or better yet just go out an take a picture.
I really do like the cover but I have to agree with Elsie Gravitt I think it would be nice to have the rose on all your covers as your signature great idea Elsie….
My first impression of the cover makes me think of an officer who does away with some high rolling scumbag…..
LOVE this cover...I would assume the book is about the murder of a police officer and I would definitely want to read it!
ReplyDeleteThe cover is great! I would definitely think the book is about a police officer getting shot or killed. I can't wait for it to come out!
ReplyDeleteA great cover! I'd say the genre is crime thriller or suspense about an officer getting killed. Definitely enticing!

ReplyDeleteI like it but I kinda miss the rose. It would look good with the stem behind the badge. It seems kinda like your signature.

Clearly a police / crime drama or mystery.
