Shadow's Edge by Jami Gray

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Genre = Urban Paranormal

The image is good, but I do not like the text work on this cover. The small text is next to impossible to read and I really hate the green text, the color and font just don't work for me.

The text for the title is interesting, but having a black drop shadow on a black background doesn't work. A shade of gray might work better.

  2. Agreed on the typefaces. The green is totally unreadable, and the red does not have enough contrast for screen view; it probably works in print.

And while I like the artwork in general, the light on her face is overblown and targeted right at her nose. For some reason it makes her nose look flat and large.

  3. If it is urban paranormal, what is she doing with what is obviously not a modern knife? And if that is leather armor, it is stupid. Why is the green type right over her half-bare boobs? I hope she's not planning on fighting dressed like that. Dumb looking covers sometimes work though, but I wouldn't buy it.

Can't tell the genre. It could be fantasy or it could be paranormal. Don't care for it for either and the fonts don't work.

  4. Fourth voice for a font change! I noted two things right away, the grip on the knife (easily knocked away as her thumb isn't around the handle at all), and her right arm appears to be missing from the elbow down...

it definitely doesn't look "modern urban fantasy"...if that were so, i'd think that a pair of tight skinny jeans and a leather fitted jacket would be more apropros...

and the knife held lower...boobs sell books, lets face it...so give them a nice frame and take away the green font!
