Pocket-47 by Jude Hardin

What's the genre? What's the logline? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Genre: some kind of suspense/mystery, probably involving murder, probably written for a male audience.

I don't care for the sideways title, but I do like the fonts and the use of color in the letters. The flames/explosion in the gun and the smoke winding around the letters look well done to me.

The longer I look at this one, the more I like it.

I think that if I liked suspense/mystery/murder etc., I'd read the blurb to see what this book was about.

  2. I agree with Colette on the genre. I like the cover and I like the genre, so I'll probably check into this one.

    Good job, Jude.

  3. Definitely looks like a mystery/thriller. I read the genre, so I'd check it out.

The only thing that bugs me is my eye keeps getting drawn to the trigger and trigger-guard, because the flame "licks" out there in a really artificial way. It makes me look at the rest of the flame and notice how un-flamey the shape is.

But that's just a nitpick, it wouldn't prevent me from reading the blurb.

  4. This looks like a Thriller to me with the gun and fire.

Over all I think that this is a good cover.

  5. Have to agree with the others - it's a great cover! Conveys suspense/thriller very well. I don't normally read that genre, but if I did, I'd definitely sample this, if not outright buy it.

    Great job. :-)

  6. I like it. The sideways title doesn't bother me. Maybe a little less smoke.
