World War II London Blitz Diary by Ruby Side Thompson

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. Hard to see this cover. The colors are certainly bright, but the fire looks fakey, and to me it does not connote any sort of feel for WWII; the colors are modern/disco/techno, not anything you would ever see in the 1940s.

Typeface looks like plain old Times Roman, boring, no distinction or thought out typographic work. The cover looks very home made and, unfortunately, not professional.

  2. a nice photo of bombed out buldings would be nice. the refernce to the author's birth and death dates is unusual and distracting.
the "World War 2" part is unnecessary--anyone knows when the Blitz was.
The subtitle is way too long--it's distracting. You're trying to convey way too much information on the cover. The "Volume 2: 1941" is a little pretentious--do you mean to imply there is another volume for each year of the war?
    Remember--often "less is actually more"

  3. Yes this is a series there are 4 volumes and 1941 is volume 2. 1939-1945 is not a birth and death date. It is the years of WW2. Who is anonymous? Someone with critiical things to say but not the balls to say who you are.
Not pretentious. So far all I can see from this blog is mean spirited ignoramouses and I will tell the author she is wasting her time.

  4. Wow is that bright, but not realistic. On first glance those colors would not make me think WWII. There are a lot of pictures from the Blitz and I'm sure most of them are in public domain at this time I have to wonder why not using of of them?

There is way too much text on the cover and most of it is almost impossible to read. The bottom half is almost impossible to read. I'm not sure how you should cut down the text, but as the people above me said.... less is more.
