Skin by Patricia Rosemoor

What's the genre? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. This one I really liked. The art work is superb. Not at all sure what is represents, although that doesn't seem to matter. The inclusion of "a thriller" on the cover is a strong clue about genre. The apple suggests Snowwhite (Snowhite?) and I wonder if the book might have 7 dwarfs in it. The title is intriguing. I like one-word titles anyway, and this one is special. I would definitely sample this book with a view to buying it.

  3. Apple--Eve. It says thriller so I assume that's what it is, but the picture translates as erotic to me.

The movement on this cover is distracting. I spend way too much time at first trying to figure out what it is, then I'm drawn left to right and out of there, even though the artist used red to try to draw me back in. Too much negative space. Not effective in popping the subject forward IMHO. I know the dark was to give a feel for suspense, but it's too much.

  4. Not quite as positive about the cover as some. I had to blow it up to figure out what the outline was; somehow I just didn't get it in the smaller form. When I did get it, I liked it a lot.

But then... the color and typography of the word "skin" does not really fit with the smooth elegance of her arm or with the author and byline. I think if it was NOT grunged out and was a cool color scheme, perhaps matching the blue rather than the red, it might work better for me. That would also help draw attention to the apple and keep the eye from skipping right out of the cover as anon above accurately describes.
