Heart of Gold by A.K. Smith

What's the genre? What's the logline? What is it you like or don't like about this cover? Does it make you want to know more about the book? Does it make you want to BUY the book? Discuss.

  1. It's amateurish and of poor quality as far as images go. It screams indie. On the other hand, I can see what they were going for...

It says "escort romance" to me due to her outfit, the location, and the phrase "Prostitute with a heart of gold" from a Simpson's episode.

  2. I don't know. Erotica maybe? I've seen much worse indie covers if that is the impression they're going for.

I would have to guess that this is a prostitution – romance (is that a category?)

I don’t have a problem with the idea of the cover, but I would agree with the others that the PhotoShop work on the cover is not as strong as it could be. Having a night image of Seattle with a day lighting of the women just doesn’t match and makes things look odd.

  4. Romance or erotica.

I'm not the target audience, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Not sure what to make of the cover. I like the Seattle background (or is that the "Needle" in Canada? Now I'm not sure)

The superimposed bimbo up front is another matter.

It looks superimposed even to my eyes, and my eyesight ain't the greatest. For my two cents (or whatever it's worth, which is probably much less), I would get rid of the bimbo; not sure what - if anything - I'd replace it with. The background is cool; maybe use a different font for the title? Something more curvy that might suggest romance or erotica? It also looks like an extra big space between "of" and "gold."

Eek. Hope I'm not being *too* anal here.
